CHILD CARE 7

Semen, Produced By A Man When He Ejaculates, Is Made Up Of Two Per Cent Sperm And 98 Per Cent Seminal Fluid. The Sperm Contains The Other Half Of The Genetic Material Needed For A New Human Life. It Is Like A Minute Tadpole, With A Head, Containing The Genetic Material, And A Long Tail Which Beats So It Can Move Through The Woman’s Reproductive System. The Seminal Fluid Also Contains Minerals And Some Sugars To Support The Sperm During Their Journey To The Egg.

Whereas The Woman Is Born With All The Eggs She Will Ever Have During Her Life, Sperm Are Constantly Being Made In A Process That Takes About 90 Days. Sperm Production Starts In The Testes The Tow Organs Where Hundreds Of Millions Of Germ Cells Develop In A Complex Network Of Highly Sensitive Tubes. Connected To Each Testicle Is The Epididymis, A Narrow Tube Through Which The Sperm Move, Carried Along By Muscular Contractions. During This Process They Mature And Become Both Fertile And Mobile. At The Last Stage Of The Journey Some Of The Seminal Fluid Is Added. The Rest Is Added At The Next Stage, In The Vas Deferens, Another Tube Through Which The Semen Goes Into The Penis To Be Ejaculated. A Single Ejaculate Can Contain Up To 300 Million Sperm. If They Are Not Ejaculated, They Die Off After About A Month And Are Replaced By Fresh Ones.
